This month, we’re highlighting the 2022 Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO) Educational Opportunity Program, held from 5-8pm on October 5th . This was the first time the long-running annual event was hosted at The Conference Center.
Over 650 people attended, and 106 institutions were represented that evening, including staff from GTCC. Admission officers were on hand to answer questions and provide a wealth of information about their college or university to prospective students. The entire Conference Center space was opened to create a comfortable flow, allowing participants the ability to move freely around the areas to gather information.
During the fall, college admission representatives have a busy travel schedule. The CACRAO Educational Opportunity Program, held in September and October, includes visits to several high schools and larger venues throughout the state, often with multiple events being held in a day. We offered them a hospitality room that provided a space to relax and have refreshments prior to the start of the event. The triple-fudge brownies served by Plain and Fancy Caterers were a big hit!
Representatives from CACRAO commented that The Conference Center was “one of the best venues we have worked with”, and they are excited about scheduling next year’s event with us. Comments from the participants were positive, with many noting that driving to and parking at The Conference Center was extremely easy and that the large number of colleges in attendance was impressive.
The Guilford County College Fair took place just prior to NC Countdown to College/College Application Week, held October 17-22, with many NC colleges and universities waiving their application fees. Hopefully, this experience made it easier for the students to narrow their choices and start their journey toward attending college.
