Those of you who are basketball lovers know that this time of year is “March Madness”. It’s a phrase that brings people together to celebrate their favorite teams and enjoy the festivities that surround watching the competition that takes place over several weeks.
One of our regular clients has taken this theme and used it for their professional development day event, held in mid-March. Using phrases like “Warm Up” to indicate the pre-meeting breakfast time, “Tip Off” for the opening session, “Time Out” for breaks, and “Overtime” for the closing session, they’re able to add a little creativity to the event and offer the presenters the opportunity to do the same when developing their individual session topics and activities. We look forward to being “on the sidelines” the day of this event!
In keeping with the teamwork philosophy, The Conference Center staff have decided to participate in the Office of State Human Resources’ annual “Miles for Wellness Challenge 29 – Slam Dunk”, which runs March 18 through May 12. This year’s theme focuses on sports, and participants will keep a log of daily movement, with the goal of virtually visiting all of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) team arenas. The virtual walk will begin in Miami at the Kaseya Center, travel north to Boston’s TD Garden, head west to the Moda Center in Portland, south to the Footprint Center in Phoenix, and end in Memphis’ FedEx Forum. So please cheer the “Cameron Cruisers” (our team name) as we begin the “season”.
