On Monday, August 7, the annual All Employees’ Meeting for Guilford Technical Community College was held, with over 650 staff, faculty, and administrators gathered in the Grand Auditorium – a combination of the Auditorium space and Truist Oak Ridge Rooms – for a half-day professional development event. To celebrate 65 years of making amazing happen, GTCC hosted a keynote presentation, with a documentary film, No Greater Odds, which focused on the relationship between colleges, their students, and the greater community. The presentation also included a GTCC student panel discussion to offer insight into their personal challenges, which mirrored the themes of the documentary. Employees were treated to a “grab and go” breakfast service of assorted muffins and biscuit sandwiches and boxed lunches at the end of the meeting. Double-sided buffet service lines were set up in the Front Circle Reception area, as well as the Classroom Hallway, where the partitions were opened to create a larger space to move the crowd through the lines quickly.
Donations to GTCC’s Titan Link, which provides resources and information to assist with non-academic challenges, such as housing, transportation, food insecurity, and child care for students, faculty, and staff, were collected at the box truck, parked outside the main entrance.
