This month, we’d like to feature the NC Community College System’s Equity Coach Academy, a series of workshops taking place from September through December 2023.
This small, close-knit group of student services personnel from across North Carolina gathers monthly for a year-long program designed to elevate a greater understanding of equity through in-person and virtual workshops.
Every session is being held in the Business Resource Center (BRC), which provides a flexible, open space for the participants to work individually and in groups. The room is set up with five “pods” with four chairs. An instructor’s station with a laptop and slide advancer, along with two LCD display monitors, allows for clear and effective projection of presentations, no matter where you are located within the room.
Since the Academy has a small group of 15, catering service is set up just outside of the room, allowing the participants the choice of eating in the BRC or outside if the weather allows. A variety of menus offered so far include Healthy Continental Breakfasts, Boxed Lunch Selections, Baked Potato & Salad Bar, Carolina BBQ Buffet, and Afternoon Breaks.
Some of the presenters are not able to attend in-person, so our Technology Support Specialist is able to assist the client with setting up virtual presentations via the Zoom platform. Tabletop microphones were placed at every “pod”, so that participants could have a discussion with the presenter, and a static camera was used, so that the virtual presenter could view the participants. Ask your event planner for more information on these options.
We are pleased that this group has enjoyed our venue so far and look forward to having them rejoin us in the coming months. If you’re seeking a meeting or workshop space for a smaller group that offers flexibility in setup, along with an excellent variety of options for feeding your participants, please contact us at (336) 819-2052 to speak with an event planner.
