Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, serves to educate the public about breast cancer and promote early detection. Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day is October 13, 2024, which celebrates over 165,000 men and women diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.
In the United States, approximately 1 in 8 men and women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, highlighting the importance of awareness and regular screenings. According to the American Cancer Society, over 280,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in 2023 alone.
Mammograms are crucial, as they can detect tumors up to three years before they can be felt. This month encourages women and men alike to prioritize their health, perform regular self-exams, and schedule screenings.
